Consul General Yan Yuqing in Lagos attends Nigeria 2025 Agricultural Summit

On May 30, 2025, Consul General Yan Yuqing attended and delivered a speech at the Nigeria 2025 Agricultural Summit on “Strategies for Nurturing Talents for the Future of Agriculture” in Lagos. Former President Obasanjo and more than 100 industry leaders and experts attended the event.

Consul General Yan said that China has been actively implementing the “China’s Plan for the Modernization of African Agriculture”, and has made progress in the promotion of the “Internet +” model of modern agriculture, and the promotion of the export of high-quality agricultural products to Nigeria and other areas of cooperation. China insists on opening up to the outside world at a high level, firmly opposes any form of tariff war or trade war, and is willing to work with countries in the global South to build an open world economy, injecting more stability and positive energy into world peace and development. Consul General Yan thanked Obasanjo for his work for China-Nepal friendship, and is willing to work with him to promote China-Nepal practical cooperation in rural development, youth empowerment and other areas to achieve more results.

During the event, Consul General Yan and Obasanjo exchanged views, and Mr. Obasanjo appreciated the development and changes of China’s Jie Ai, and expressed his willingness to continue to contribute to the friendship between China and Nigeria.
